Retail Therapy

Every girl needs some every now and then! Here is some fun stuff I have bought in the past month due to my shopping addiction!

Can you tell I am ready for fall already? What are you guys looking forward to getting to wear again most come fall?

Mermaid Hair

I don't know if most of you know this but in my younger days I was a hair stylist specializing in color and extensions. I moved around to much, as I was kind of a vagabond, to keep up a steady clientele anywhere so eventually I just ended up doing it on the side. And to this day I still do.

Which means a lot of my friends luck out and get things like a full head of fusion extensions for half what it would cost in a salon! This past week I did a full head and figured I would share all the fun with you guys.

So to do a head of extensions I prefer to use 2 at least if not 3 varying lengths of hair. You also need a heat gun some clips and patience! It's a tedious task but for some wierd reason I love doing it lol. Some people use finger caps (little gloves for each finger) but I prefer not too.

People always ask what the bonds look like under the hair and I always forget to take a picture so here is one I stole from google images so you guys can get the idea.

Alright so here is the before and after of the GF I did them for. Usually I would have curled them too because I always think extensions look best curled, but it got pretty late so it wasn't happening lol.

For her we used 22 inch and 20 inch hair (would have used 18 as well but they were out when we got the hair). Makes me miss my weaves! But I vowed to let my hair grow and get epic all on it's on and thats what I am sticking too!

Fusions are not for lazy people! If you don't want to maintain and style your hair properly don't ever get these or it will be a nightmare for you! But if you are willing to put in a little extra time on your hair and love the look then they are a great edition to your own mane!

How many of you have had fusions before and what did you think?

Union Local 613

Whenever I hear about any kind of new restaurant opening up in Centertown it becomes a must for me to try it out. I love our little neighborhood and gladly welcome any new magical spots to eat when lazy or just feeling like having a little something different. And that is exactly what we got at Union Local 613 which opened over the past month at Somerset.

First I just want to start off with how AMAZING the decor was because of course you all know how much I love interior design. Mason jar everything (swoon because i have a mason jar addiction), glass bottles made into lighting, kitchen tools as pulls for the beer taps, reclaimed barn wood covering the ceiling and burlap sacks adorning the menus! Not to mention a gorgeous mural painted by local tattoo artist Julian of Five Cent Tattoos

Now on to the food! The prices aren't what I would call wallet friendly but don't let that stop you from eating as much on the menu as possible because it's all so good! We started off by trying all the appetizers they had ( it was 3 of us it was nice to just share). So we got the deviled eggs, biscuits w rabbit gravy and a sampler platter of meats (though now they have battered pumkin flowers which i am super tempted to go back and try)

The deviled eggs were by far the best I have ever had, they had cured bacon in them!? I mean how can it get better than that! I loved the biscuits and gravy, at first I wasn't sure how I felt about eating rabbit but it was delish. The meat platter was alright but what really made it shine was the amazing mustard served with it!

I really loved how everything came out on mismatched plates, the type you'd expect to see up at the cottage. Made it all feel very comforting and homey.

For dinner I had the fried green tomatoes, boston bibb, pimento cheese, pickled corn, bacon & black pepper ranch along with the oysters on the half shell . I could have eaten it all 10 times over. I really liked their untraditional take on fried green tomatoes and the salad was a perfect compliment to them! The oysters were huge, fresh and delightful!

Nate had their special of the day which was a slow spit cooked pork along with their macaroni salad which has shrimp in it! Somehow I didn't taste any but he said it was amazing. Our friend who came with us had the yard bird (essentially deep fried chicken) it had a buttermilk batter and an amazing dry rub underneath that gave it a really rich flavoring def worth trying.

And last but not least me and Nate had dessert! We were actually pretty full but everything had been so delicious and unique up to that point we felt like we had to taste dessert!  I had a lavender and buttermilk tart and Nate had some sort of parfait with caramel and candied jalapenos. Again both amazing w zero complaints!

All in all if I could afford to I would eat at this place easily once a week lol. I guess if I could control myself to just ordering a thing or 2 I could but I am not very good at self control. Our server was so sweet and always on top of everything and their staff as a whole was very friendly and welcoming. For sure my favorite new restaurant in the neighborhood and hopefully soon to be yours too!

You can check out more of their menu on their website linked at the start of the blog and feel free to follow them on Facebook or Twitter !

Scentsy and Summer Snacks

I have an addiction to a magical smelling home. Scented candels stress me out to have going all the time with the dogs around.

My mom got me hooked on an awesome product called Scentsy. They are scented waxes melted over a pretty ceramic base with a light bulb inside. ( they have loads of different warmer bases to pick from we have 2 large ones and a plug-in in the kitchen)

I just ordered my summer scents and they got here today. Excited for a fresh smelling home! All the bars I had were very wintery smells and didn't seem fitting this time of year.

If you are thinking or ordering any for summer Beach is my top pic! You can order it all direct through their website linked above or find a local distributor. I am officially an Scentsy addict and you probly will be too if you try it out.

So as you all know I love food! I get lazy in the summer and need to find simple snacks to beat the heat. My top go to snacks at the moment are Edamame and cheese!!!

Presidents Choice finally has frozen in shell edamame and I am a little too stoked cause they used to be so hard to find up here in Canada unless you went to Costco and I don't make my way out there super often.

I like putting a lemon pepper spice I have on them with a little bit of sea salt!

I am also hooked on Boursin cheese at the moment and wine. Perfect summer mix!

And on that note I am hungry and off to go make some lunch lol!

Pups and Friends

I can never take enough photos of the little babies!

Today was one of my best friends 27th birthdays! She is a great human and deserved a great birthday present. So I got her a custom set of nails made by my lovely friend Tiffany. Glad she ended up loving them!

We headed over to a BBQ at our murtual friends new house to celebrate their new move! One of the hosts is posssibly the most amusing humans I know. It's never a dull tiume when Joady is around!

Well thats it for me off to bed cause I work at 7am the next 2 days! Hope everyone is having a great week so far.
